이곡의 제목을 보고 노래 자체를 기억하실 분은 별로 없겠지만 들어보면 아! 하고 곧바로 익숙한 멜로디를 떠올리실 곡이죠.ㅎ

게리 무어 형님의 연주는 이 형님을 찌푸린 얼굴로 울적하지만 달달한 블루스를 연주하는 모습만 기억하는 분들께는 이 형님이 원래는 당대에 손꼽히는 뛰어난 락기타리스트였다는 사실을 상기시켜주는 연주입니다. ㅎ

이곡의 원곡은 제가 무척이나 좋아하는 Nina Simone 할머니의 1964년 녹음이지만, 워낙 좋은 곡이라 저작권 개념이 요즘과 달랐던 예전에 Moody Blues, Cyndi Lauper, Animals 등이 커버했던 곡이기도 합니다. 대중적으로는 1970년대 이후 Santa Esmeralda 버전의 들썩들썩하는 디스코 버전이 가장 유명하긴 합니다.(댄스음악과는 상극인 저는 극구 피하는 버전이긴 합니다. )

저의 개인적인 취향과 관계없이 네가지 버전 모두 아주 매력적인 연주들이라... 마음에 드는 걸로 골라들으시면 됩니다. ㅎ
