[트럼프 공식] 미국, 캐나다 전력 관세에 맞불… 국가비상사태 선포 예고

온타리오주(캐나다)가 미국으로 들어오는 '전력'에 25%의 관세를 부과함에 따라, 나는 상무장관에게 캐나다산 '철강' 및 '알루미늄'에 대한 관세를 기존 25%에서 50%로 추가 인상하도록 지시했다. 이는 3월 12일 아침부터 시행될 것이다.

또한, 캐나다는 미국산 유제품에 대해 250%에서 390%까지 부과하는 '반(反)미국 농업 관세'를 즉시 철폐해야 한다. 이를 오랫동안 터무니없는 조치로 간주해왔다. 나는 곧 '전력' 문제와 관련하여 국가비상사태를 선포할 것이며, 이를 통해 캐나다의 부당한 위협에 신속히 대응할 것이다.

만약 캐나다가 이러한 불공정한 관세들을 철회하지 않는다면, 4월 2일부터 미국으로 들어오는 '자동차'에 대한 관세를 대폭 인상할 것이며, 이는 사실상 캐나다의 자동차 산업을 붕괴시킬 것이다. 미국 내에서도 충분히 자동차를 생산할 수 있다!

또한, 캐나다는 안보 비용을 거의 부담하지 않으며, 미국의 군사적 보호에 의존하고 있다. 우리는 매년 2,000억 달러 이상을 캐나다를 위해 보조하고 있다. 도대체 왜 그래야 하는가?

가장 합리적인 해결책은 캐나다가 미국의 '51번째 주'가 되는 것이다. 그렇게 되면 모든 관세 문제는 사라지고, 캐나다 국민들의 세금 부담이 대폭 줄어들 것이며, 군사적·기타 안보도 강화될 것이다. 북부 국경 문제도 없어지고, 세계에서 가장 강력한 미국이 더욱 크고 강한 나라가 될 것이며, 캐나다도 그 일부가 될 것이다.

이렇게 되면 과거에 그어진 인위적인 국경선도 사라지고, 세계에서 가장 안전하고 아름다운 국가가 탄생할 것이다. 캐나다의 국가(國歌)인 O Canada는 계속 연주되겠지만, 이제는 '미국의 위대한 주'를 상징하는 노래가 될 것이다!

Based on Ontario, Canada, placing a 25% Tariff on “Electricity” coming into the United States, I have instructed my Secretary of Commerce to ad an ADDITIONAL 25% Tariff, to 50%, on all STEEL and ALUMINUM COMING INTO THE UNITED STATES FROM CANADA, ONE OF THE HIGHEST TARIFFING NATIONS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. This will go into effect TOMORROW MORNING, March 12th. Also, Canada must immediately drop their Anti-American Farmer Tariff of 250% to 390% on various U.S. dairy products, which has long been considered outrageous. I will shortly be declaring a National Emergency on Electricity within the threatened area. This will allow the U.S to quickly do what has to be done to alleviate this abusive threat from Canada. If other egregious, long time Tariffs are not likewise dropped by Canada, I will substantially increase, on April 2nd, the Tariffs on Cars coming into the U.S. which will, essentially, permanently shut down the automobile manufacturing business in Canada. Those cars can easily be made in the USA! Also, Canada pays very little for National Security, relying on the United States for military protection. We are subsidizing Canada to the tune of more than 200 Billion Dollars a year. WHY??? This cannot continue. The only thing that makes sense is for Canada to become our cherished Fifty First State. This would make all Tariffs, and everything else, totally disappear. Canadians taxes will be very substantially reduced, they will be more secure, militarily and otherwise, than ever before, there would no longer be a Northern Border problem, and the greatest and most powerful nation in the World will be bigger, better and stronger than ever — And Canada will be a big part of that. The artificial line of separation drawn many years ago will finally disappear, and we will have the safest and most beautiful Nation anywhere in the World — And your brilliant anthem, “O Canada,” will continue to play, but now representing a GREAT and POWERFUL STATE within the greatest Nation that the World has ever seen!
